An idiom referring a change of direction that can be construed to be large enough to be considered a major change (i.e. more than minor), but not large enough to be considered an opposite or reverse course. |

Generally speaking, a Directional Deviation is considered a change of direction from forty-five degrees (45º) to less than ninety degrees (90º).
Directional Deviation is the companion term to Directional Adjustment and Directional Switch, where Directional Deviation refers to a change of direction that is greater than a Directional Adjustment but less than a Directional Switch.
Directional Deviation is generic in nature and can refer a change in either linear or circular motion (aka Orbital Deviation). See circle and line for more information on this subject.
Directional Deviation differs from Directional Change in that Directional Change is slightly more generic in nature, but can be used interchangeably with Directional Deviation.
