Destabilize

To make Unbalanced. As in balance or alignment.

Most commonly, this term refers to stance; but it can be used to describe any sort of lack of equilibrium in any type of basic.

 

In the context of stance, one can be destabilized by anything within the environment, including: terrain, another (e.g. sweep, buckle, trip, etc.), or by self.

 

In the context of a defensive or offensive maneuver, this term can be used in reference to lack of proper Body Alignment.

 

Used in the context of self-defense, it most commonly refers to either the practitioner's or opponent's stance being compromised.
