Universal Upward (Block)

 

A specific type of universal block which is physically distinguishable by the upward direction (in relation to the practitioner) of its movement in order to effect the block.

 

 

Comments:

 

The simplest way to think about this maneuver is that it is essentially a double upward block.

 

By definition, upward universal blocks employ a thrusting method of execution.

 

Note: This block is not part of the original curriculum, but it is a basic used with the self-defense techniques.

 

Derivation:

 

This block derives its name from the fact that it travels in a upward direction.
