Threading can be achieved with any type of Environmental Object, but most commonly refers to the use of the extremities of the body.
In other words, contact is kept on the joint area of the guiding weapon as the maneuver is executed, instead of the contact point moving along the entire length of the guiding weapon.
Threading can only occur if the joint is at specific angles. Otherwise, its use is not warranted and tracking or guidelining, should be considered as an alternative.
Threading is distinct type of contouring where specifically only the bend of a Environmental Object is used to guide another Environmental Object.
Threading differs from tracking in that tracking is slightly more generic because it can use any portion of the Environmental Object as a guide, where threading requires using a bend (e.g. joint) of the guiding Environmental Object.
