Line Rider

Sparring specific slang for a competitor who frequently steps out of bounds, often on purpose, during freestyle competition.

Comments:

 

This method of sparring can be seen during tournamentcompetition as well as normal sparringsituations.

 

This method of sparring is usually implemented to stop the time or the action of a sparring match.

 

This is a derogatory term.

 

A Line Rider runs the risk of loosing points or getting disqualified in a tournament situation, because most tournament rules have some sort of punitive measure against competitors that frequently exit the ring during competition.

Derivation:

 

The term is derived from the fact that the boundaries of the sparring ring are lines and the offending practitioner usually fights while staying close to and along the lines.
