Inward (Blocks)

A specific category of Striking block which is physically distinguishable by the inward direction (in relation to the practitioner) of its movement in order to effect the block.

Comments:

Inward blocks travel from the same side to the opposite side of the body (inward) - as the blocking arm.

Inward blocks can employ either a hammering or thrusting method of execution - depending upon the point of origin of the block (i.e. high or low).

The word inward, in this case, is equivalent to inside.

Derivation:

This block derives its name from the fact that it travels in a inward direction.
