An idiom referring to stepping of your foot beyond the heel of the opponent's foot - thus exposing your groin area to a counter measure by the opponent.

Comments:

Straddling the Paddle is generally to be avoided.

Straddle the Paddle can be easily visualized by using the Point of View and Traveling Eye concepts when it occurs.

Straddle the Paddle breaks the general rule: "check off loose extremities." by exposing your groin area to the opponent's feet.

One method of avoiding Straddle the Paddle is to actually step on the opponent's foot. This ensures that you do not step beyond it and employs a Pinning Check to their foot simultaneously.
