Relaxation Response Mechanism

An idiom referring to the natural relaxation of the opponent's musculature after a strike to a specific target.

Comments:

The Relaxation Response Mechanism is a naturally occurring response where the muscles are tightened in anticipation of a strike, but then the muscles are relaxed after the strike is considered finished or no longer a threat.

This phenomenon can be exploited by purposely striking an opponent in a series of two (2) sequential maneuvers timed to specifically take advantage of the relaxation of the opponent's musculature after the first strike is considered to be finished by the opponent.

This strategy could be considered a variation on or a type of Reactionary Set-up.

This strategy is closely related to Conditioned Response.

This strategy could be considered the opposite of Momentary Conditioning.
