One easy way to understand Purposeful Omission is that a specific thing (i.e. motion, maneuver, method) was recognized and evaluated, and then a decision was made to exclude it as a practical option for a given scenario.
Purposeful Omission most commonly arises from limitations on us as humans. For instance, which directions our joints bend (and don't), along with other physical (and potentially mental) limitations.
Purposeful Omission is somewhat generic in that it does not impose a specific reason for omission, only that a decision is purposely made to avoid its use within the context considered.
Purposeful Omission is directly related to Category Completion in that elements that are Purposefully Omitted are not included into a category by conscious choice. |
