Basically Proportional Execution arises from the fact that many traditional marital arts did not use the concept of Proportional Execution. This situation came about because in some of the homogenous countries size differences were minute compared with modern mixed cultures.
For example, in early American adoption of some of these arts it was not uncommon for an instructor to insist that everyone in the class have the same height while in a fighting stance (or training horse). Therefore, taller individuals needed to settle lower in their stance than shorter individuals.
By modern standards this seems impractical and ridiculous, and Proportional Execution is considered the logical and practical method to be effective and efficient in execution. |
