Outward (Blocks)

A specific category of Striking block which is physically distinguishable by the outward direction (in relation to the practitioner) of its movement in order to effect the block.

Comments:

Outward blocks travel from the opposite side of the body to the same side (outward) - as the blocking arm.

Outward blocks always employ thrusting method of execution.

Because of the physical makeup of our bodies, outward blocks employ a thrusting method of execution.

The word outward, in this case, is equivalent to outside.

Derivation:

This block derives its name from the fact that it travels in a outward direction.
