An analogy used to illustrate the use of a small rotation when transitioning from the thrusting straight punch to the grab within the Self-Defense Technique Attacking Mace. |

This analogy is used as a mental reminder as to the proper method in which the punch (a linear maneuver) should transition into the grab (via a circular maneuver) by creating the rotation around the opponent's arm using contouring (i.e. the wrist as a Pivot Point) - rather than creating a gap (i.e. using the elbow or shoulder as the Pivot Point).
This analogy (and variations of it) can be applied elsewhere throughout the system. |
