A distinct type of punching strike which is physically distinguishable by striking in a linear, forward and diagonally upward direction - with the palm of the fist pointing upward. |

This punch is effected on a diagonally upward line of travel, not on a horizontal one; and should not be confused with the inverted (palm up) straight punch.
Also, this punch should not be confused with its higher (and slight more extended) relative, the vertical back-knuckle strike.
By definition, this strike either uses a Thrusting (or Snapping) Method of Execution.
Uppercut is the colloquial name. The technical name for this punch would be the upward-diagonal inverted punch.
This punch is a Close Range strike and should not be overextended. In other words, it uses a Long Range weapon delivered to Close Range. |
