Straight

A distinct type of punching strike which is physically distinguishable by striking in a linear, forward direction - making contact with the front of the first two knuckles of the fist, palm pointing downward.

Comments:

This strike is most typically effected on a relatively horizontal line, but may be executed on a slight upward or downward slope, depending upon need.

More specifically, this punch should only be executed to lower than shoulder height. This is because, as the bend of the wrist becomes more pronounced, the greater the probability that the wrist may be injured or broken. In these higher scenarios, the vertical punch should be substituted instead.

By definition, this strike either uses a Thrusting (or Snapping) Method of Execution.

The word straight, in this case, means to follow a line of travel that is relatively parallel to the vertical (width) center-line (and relatively perpendicular to the vertical (depth) center-line), toward the front
