Relayed Power

An idiom describing the use of existing and residual force from a specific maneuver or method into a follow-up maneuver or method.

Comments:

Relayed Force is typically used to compliment new momentum, thus aiding to the force of the existing momentum.

Relayed Force is basically taking advantage of latent momentum and/or force from one maneuver or method and using it to enhance a follow-up maneuver or method.

Relayed Force differs from Borrowed Force in that Relayed force is a form of Borrowed Force which takes advantage of forces generated by the self and not taking advantage of any external forces.

Relayed Force is often used in conjunction with Continuity of Motion and Continuous Weapons.

The practitioner is encouraged to become comfortable with finding and taking advantage of Relayed Force within their movements.

Relayed Force is commonly used as part of a Rebounding Strike or Launching Effect.

Example(s):

Executing a straight punch to an opponent and then collapsing the punch into an elbow strike demonstrates Relayed Force into the elbow strike.
