Passive (Stance)

 

A variation on the natural stance which is physically distinguishable by having the arms raised in front of the body to about shoulder height.

 

Comments:

 

This stance is considered to be semi-ready in relation to combat and self-defense.

 

This stance is the most ready of the attention stances.

 

This stance give the impression of being passive and non-ready, but allows the practitioner some degree of readiness - without alerting (a) potential opponent(s).

 

This stance is primarily used as a starting point for certain self-defense techniques.

 

Derivation:

 

This stance derives its name from the fact that it gives the appearance of being passively natural in nature.
