Locks are most commonly effected by isolating at least a single joint of the body.
A lock differs from a break, in that, a lock applies only enough pressure to isolate the joint.
A lock is considered a maneuver of opportunity, and usually used in combination with a push, pull, grab, or other move that causes a joint to be extended.
Locks employ a Body Fulcrum.
In order to effectively lock a joint, there must be three (3) relatively fixed points to work against the joint: 1)the joint itself 2)a point above (or to one side of) the joint 3)a point below (or to the opposite side of) the joint
Without these points the joint cannot be effectively immobilized. |
