Floating can be used to enhance an accompanying maneuver with the floating process or after the float resettles into the stance.
Technically speaking, the line is blurred between the float and the settle if the enhancement is performed on the downside of the float. But the settle is executed without an accompanying float; and is employed from a Point of Origin of an preexisting stance.
Floating is a form of Body English.
Technically speaking, the legs are the primary activator of a float, but this motion is often accompanied by a physical change in the body musculature - either by tightening or loosening the supporting structure. This is done to further enhance this maneuver.
Because the legs are the primary activator of this maneuver, it could be argued that the float is a Foot Maneuver. But it is included as a Body Maneuver because there is no measurable (horizontal) change in gap created by the maneuver via the feet.
Floating is most commonly done to enhance the delivery of some other upper and/or lower extremity maneuver - such as a punch, elbow, buckle, knee, etc.
Floating is often used to enhance the Power Principle of Gravitational Marriage - either in opposition to (upward) or in conjunction with (downward).
Floating can be considered a subdued version of flying.
Floating is the opposite of settling in that they both are used primarily to enhance an accompanying maneuver, only in opposite directions (upward vs downward - respectively). |
