A natural response mechanism to a threatening situation: either to engage (fight) or disengage (flight). |

Fight or Flight is a well known paradigm used to describe an individuals immediate and natural reaction to stressful, life threatening, critical, or dangerous situations. This is broken down into two (2) distinct and opposite responses: fight - meaning to engage an try to overcome the threat flight - meaning to disengage and try to avoid the threat
It is generally understood that one does not actually know what immediate response they will have until placed in this type of situation. Even though they may believe that they will have a given response prior to the scenario occurring.
Fight or Flight differs from Fight or Flight refers to one's immediate and natural response. |
