Comments:

See American Kenpo (and Kenpo) for more information and historical context.

Since SGM Parker's untimely death in 1990 various sub-branches have arisen as variation on the foundation set during his lifetime. Because of this, the term American Kenpo has began to take on a more generic term (like Kenpo before it), referring to any variation of SGM Parker's foundation.

Those that continue to practice the system and curriculum laid down my SGM Parker began to refer to his system as: Ed Parker's American Kenpo (System) - or EPAK / EPAKS for short.

This volume of work and others (including SGM Parker) have taken the time and effort to detail the many innovations of EPAK(S) before the sands of time degrade them to the point of being unrecognizable from the original works.

EPAK(S) is as much a science as it is an art. Many American Kenpo practitioners consider a major part of what they do the application of kinesiology from a martial art's perspective.

EPAK(S) physical training is broken down into the following categories:

1)Basics (Forms & Sets)

2)Self-defense Techniques

3)Freestyle

These form the major divisions of EPAK(S).
