Sets are part of the Basics division of American Kenpo. More specifically, they are the moving basics.
In American Kenpo, sets are appendices to the study of motion. See Analogy - Dictionary / Encyclopedia / Appendix Analogy for more information.
Although technically distinct within American Kenpo, form can somewhat be used interchangeably with form. See form for more information.
In general, a set can be considered an specialized index of maneuvers designed to convey specific pieces of information in a more detailed and concentrated manner than a form. Another way to put this is that expands further on specific subjects that the forms do not.
Sets are generally considered more informal than a form. And therefore, are not generally executed as part of tournament competition. Although, they may be appended in some form to personalize the execution of a form for competition. |
