Degree of Attack

Definition(s):

An paradigm illustrating a way of describing the specific extent of an attack.

Comments:

The Degree of Attack paradigm has three (3) levels:

Dead (e.g. applied)

Semi-Live (e.g. push)

Live (e.g. punch)

The general idea of the paradigm is to place potential for immediate injury on a spectrum to better understand the urgency of dealing with any specific attack. It places this urgency on a spectrum from less urgent (Dead) to most urgent (Live).

This paradigm is similar to, but distinctly different from, the Means of Aggression paradigm.
