Sparring specific slang for a competitor who doesn't and/or can't control his/her strikes during freestyle competition.

Comments:

This behavior is usually seen during tournament competition, but can also be seen in normal sparring situations.

This is a derogatory term.

In certain situations it is hard to tell whether the competitor is a Banger or whether the opponent is an Actor trying to get a disqualification.

A Banger is generally disliked by all the other types of competitors, because a Banger creates an environment where there is an elevated chance of getting injured, which might exclude a competitor from further competition.

A Banger is usually taken advantage of by an Actor.

This method of sparring is usually done:

a)because the competitor is inexperienced and has no control of their weapons

b)because the competitor is used to and/or likes sparring with more contact

c)because the competitor is employing a strategy of trying to intimidate

Derivation:

The term is derogatory and taken from the fact that the competitors weapons "bang" into the opponent with no control.
