Upper Case

A maneuver that employs a path of action with the intent that the upper part of the weapon will make contact with the target, in either a defensive or offensive scenario.

Comments:

Upper Case does not describe the intent of the weapon being deployed, rather the point of contact on the weapon that is made.

The concept of Upper Case is most commonly associated with the forearm and blocking, demonstrating how multiple points on the forearm can be used equally effective to accomplish the same goal. Although this is the most common case, this same concept can be demonstrated using a large number of weapons in a large number of scenarios.

Upper Case is closely related to the principle of Margin for Error in that it is a prime example of its use; demonstrating different points on same the weapon being used, in comparison to relying solely upon a single point.

Upper Case is related to the Squeegee Principle in that Upper Case is closely associated with using a Line of Travel (i.e. tip of weapon) over a Path of Travel (i.e. edge of weapon), thus allowing for both Upper Case and Lower Case usage of the weapon.
