Slipping is most often used as an evasion, but can also be used to trap, catch, lock, etc. - often with the support of the arms (or legs).
Slips are similar to rolls in that they are used to evade offensive maneuvers. The distinction of a slip is that it evades by moving toward the offensive maneuver; where a true roll must create evasion through circular motion (and can move away from the offensive maneuver).
Slips are the opposite of rides in that they travel toward the offensive maneuver and rides travel with the offensive maneuver. |
