The downward block sequence is as follows:
1) | settle into a left neutral bow with a left, hammering, downward block, while simultaneously retracting your right arm to a right chambered position |
2) | without any loss of motion from the previous move, execute a left, thrusting, inverted, vertical, roundhouse punch |
3) | shift forward into a left forward bow with a right, thrusting, straight punch, at solar plexus level, while simultaneously retracting your left arm to a left chambered position |
4) | execute a right, snapping, step through, ball kick, at groin level, with a left, thrusting straight punch, at solar plexus level, simultaneously with the retraction of your right arm to a right chambered position |
5) | plant your right foot forward into a modified right forward bow |
6) | shift into a right fighting horse with a right, thrusting, vertical punch, at rib height, while simultaneously retracting your left arm to a left chambered position |
7) | Repeat the sequence on the opposite side (toward 7:30H) |
The obvious information derived from this sequence is:
•it utilizes the neutral bow, forward bow, and fighting horse stance
•it utilizes both the front and the rear weapon
•it demonstrates execution of front with rear weapon (offensively)
•it demonstrates execution of front with rear weapon (upper / lower)
•it demonstrates execution of front with front weapon (upper / lower)
•it demonstrates both sides of the sequence (opposites)
•the two sides of the sequence are execution at a 90 degree angle from each other
Analyzing this sequence further exposes the following information:
•it steps onto a minor angle (instead of a major angle)
•it starts the 'x' pattern
•it is only executed to the lower part of the 'x' pattern
•it introduces a new Method of Execution - round-housing
•it introduces a new strike - inverted, vertical back-knuckle strike
•it introduces a new strike - front kick
•it introduces a new type of strike - buckle
•it demonstrates the vertical punch to a new height zone (middle)
•the rotation of stances shows both the same and reverse direction of rotation in Long Form One
•the foot maneuver demonstrates the step through forward with two, simultaneous strikes
•it demonstrates execution of linear with linear
•it demonstrates execution of linear with circular
•the first (block) and second (strike) maneuver continue the same circular path of travel (vertically)
The obvious information derived from the Downward Block is:
•it is defensive
•it emphasizes the power principle of torque
•it is executed using the hammering Method of Execution
•it is executed using circular path of travel (horizontally)
•it does not stop at potential point of contact
The obvious information derived from the Back-knuckle strike is:
•it is offensive
•it is executed to long range
•it is executed using circular line of travel (horizontally)
•it emphasizes the Power Principle of torque
•it is executed using the round-housing Method of Execution
•it introduces the inverted, vertical back-knuckle strike
Analyzing this maneuver further exposes the following information:
•it demonstrates the continuation of the circle of the downward block
The obvious information derived from the Reverse Punch is:
•it is offensive
•it is executed to long range
•it use the thrusting Method of Execution
•it is execute using linear line of travel (horizontally)
•it emphasizes the power principle of torque
The obvious information derived from the maneuver is:
•the kick is executed using the rear weapon
•the punch is executed using the front weapon
•the punch is executed using the thrusting Method of Execution
•the kick is executed using the snapping Method of Execution
•both strikes are offensive
•both strikes are executed to long range
•both strikes are executed using linear line of travel (horizontally)
•the maneuver demonstrates execution of middle with lower zone
Analyzing this maneuver further exposes the following information:
•the kick demonstrates a new point of contact with the foot (ball)
•the maneuver demonstrates offense with offense
•the maneuver demonstrates execution of front with rear weapon
•the maneuver demonstrates linear with linear motion
•the maneuver switches front to rear weapons
The obvious information derived from the Buckle / Punch is:
•the buckle is executed using circular path of travel (diagonally)
•the punch is executed using linear line of travel (horizontally)
•the punch is executed using the thrusting Method of Execution
•both strikes are offensive
•both strikes are executed to mid-range
•the maneuver emphasizes the power principle of torque
Analyzing this maneuver further exposes the following information:
•the buckle introduces a new striking surface - shin
•the punch is executed the same as the last maneuver in the inward blocking sequence, but with hand closed
•the maneuver demonstrates offense with offense
•the maneuver demonstrates execution of front with front weapon
•the maneuver demonstrates execution of middle with lower zone
•the maneuver demonstrates linear motion with circular motion
The obvious information derived from the transition is:
•it is 225 degrees (left) and 90 degrees (right)
