Hook (Kicks)

A distinct type of kicking strike which is physically distinguishable by striking in a circular Path of Travel - which makes contact after the apex of its circular trajectory, on a non-vertical axis of rotation.

Comments:

This kick does not specify a specific contact point of the foot, rather it refers to its circular path and where on its trajectory it makes contact in relation to the apex of the circle.

The most typical contact point for this kick is the heel of the foot, but that is not mandated.

By definition, this kick uses a hooking Method of Execution.

The vertical version of this kick is referred to as a scoop kick.

From one perspective, this kick is the lower body equivalent to the hook punch.

A hook kick that specifically make contact with the heel of the foot is commonly referred to as a heel-hook kick.
