Black Dot Focus illustrates and symbolizes the correct attitude when approaching a combat situation. It represents total awareness, recognizing the need for defenses, along with the intended target and/or goal.
In the illustration, the box represents the situation at hand, the white background represents awareness, and the black dot represents the intended goal and/or target.
One of the ways that Kenpo differs from a lot of other martial arts, is that there is a lot of thought and movement dedicated to defensive back-ups. It recognizes that even though the practitioner should concentrate on the final target and/or goal, they should also be totally cognizant of their own defense in the process. |
