Bind

Any maneuver which effectively immobilizes one's opponent(s) for any period of time.

Inflected Form(s):

Binding (noun)

Comments:

Bind is a generic term which refers more to the effect of a maneuver, rather than any specific maneuver itself.

Binding is similar to Checking in that it anticipates motion. But unlike Checking, binding must cause immobilization of one's opponent(s) for a period of time.

The practitioner can bind (an) opponent(s) by a variety of singular maneuvers or by combining maneuvers.

Typically, binding effects more than one part of an opponent's body, simultaneously.

Some common methods of creating a binding effect are:

Entwining Limbs

a.Locking

b.Pressing

c.Pinning

Example(s):

Crossing one of an opponent's arm over the other and pressing on the top-most arm creates a binding effect on the opponent.
