In the case of multiple moves, each move in the series gains in momentum from its predecessor.

Example(s):

If the speed of an incoming attack were under estimated and a block was delivered to divert the attack, the defensive move would fail unless the speed of the block were increased sufficiently to compensate for the error in estimation. The act of increasing the speed of the block would be an example of accelerating.
