Upward Parry (Block)

 

A specific category of Parrying block which is physically distinguishable by the upward direction (in relation to the practitioner) of its movement in order to effect the block.

 

 

Comments:

 

The upward parry travels from a lower to higher position of the body in relation to the practitioner.

 

The upward parry only employs a thrusting method of execution.

 

This maneuver is enacted with the fingers pointing inward.

 

Derivation:

 

This parry derives its name from the fact that it travels in a upward direction.
