Strike Errors

Strikes (offense) is one of the major themes of Short Form Two. Executing the strikes properly can make the difference between a successful offense and failure. Just like the stances and the blocks, the practitioner should become intimately familiar with the proper dimensions utilized in each of the strikes. Some of the primary concepts in dealing with striking are Angle of Incidence, Directional Harmony, Focus, Alignment, and Method of Execution. These theories along with others are highlighted in detail in SGM Parker's book, "Infinite Insights into Kenpo, book #3 (Physical Analyzation II)."

Some of the most common mistakes displayed while executing Short Form Two strikes are: not executing the strikes to the proper dimensions; not executing the strikes to the proper angles; not extending the strike to the proper depth; not executing the strikes with the proper point of contact of the weapon; executing the strike with improper timing; improper weapon formation, and/or executing the strike with the improper Method of Execution.
