A series of maneuvers using the same weapon where as the follow up maneuver is rotated around a relatively fixed Pivot Point created by the end of the follow-up maneuver. |

Ratchets allow weapons of different ranges to be used from the same limb by using the mid-joint as a major pivot point In order to be a true ratchet the pivot point should remain totally fixed in space. But often one must adjust the pivoting joint to compensate for the range difference. These types of maneuvers are often called ratchet-like. |
