Outward Parry (Block)

 

A specific category of Parrying block which is physically distinguishable by the outward direction (in relation to the practitioner) of its movement in order to effect the block.

 

 

Comments:

 

The outward parry travels from the opposite side of the body to the same side (outward) - as the blocking arm.

 

The outward parry always employs a thrusting method of execution.

 

Because of the physical makeup of our bodies, outward parry employ a thrusting method of execution.

 

The word outward, in this case, is equivalent to outside.

 

Derivation:

 

This parry derives its name from the fact that it travels in a outward direction.
