Inside-Downward, Palm up Block Sequence

form_pattern_inside_downward_palm_up_block

The inside-downward, palm up block sequence is as follows:

1)Step the left foot backward into a right front twist with a left, hammering, inside downward palm up block, while simultaneously retracting the right arm to a right chambered position
2)Unwind into a right neutral bow with a right, snapping vertical punch, at lower rib level, while simultaneously retracting the left arm to a left chambered position, palm up
3)Repeat the sequence on the opposite side (toward 10:30H)

The obvious information derived from this sequence is:

it retreats

it utilizes the twist and neutral bow stances

it demonstrates execution with the front weapon (defensively / offensively)

it demonstrates in-place stance rotation

it shows both sides of the sequence (opposites)

the two sides of the sequence are executed without change in Point of Reference

Analyzing this sequence further exposes the following information:

it demonstrates distance then rotation - in reverse

it steps onto a minor angle (instead of a major angle) - retreating

it introduces a new foot maneuver - twist through (in reverse)

Inside-Downward, Palm-up Block Specific Information

The obvious information derived from the Inside-Downward Block is:

it is defensive

it is executed as a parrying block

it emphasizes the power principle of back-up mass

it uses the hammering Method of Execution

it is executed on a linear path of travel (diagonally)

Analyzing this maneuver further exposes the following information:

the foot maneuver (cross-over) demonstrates distance without rotation

the foot maneuver (cross-over) enhances the execution of the block

Vertical Punch Specific Information

The obvious information derived from the Vertical Punch is:

it is offensive

it is executed to mid range

it emphasizes the power principle of torque

it uses the snapping Method of Execution

it uses the snapping Method of Execution to a horizontal plane

Analyzing this maneuver further exposes the following information:

the foot maneuver (unwind) demonstrates rotation without distance

the foot maneuver (unwind) enhances the execution of the strike

the strike is executed on a linear line of travel (horizontally)
