Isolation Sequences are only in long forms - e.g purposely excluded from short forms.
The standard way an Isolation Sequence is performed is by moving the upper body while maintaining a horse stance, but this is not a requirement. For instance, although technically arguable, Form Five could be said to be the only American Kenpo form to be performed with lower body Isolation Sequences.
Another way to think about an Isolation Sequence is that it is a way of drawing attention to a specific set of maneuvers by executing the motions without the aid of complimentary Body Mechanics.
In forms, an Isolation Sequence is executed for one (1) or more of the following reasons: to fill in missing information to display new information as a preview of things to come |
