Stances

Postural Positions employed using the legs and body.

Comments:

Stances are commonly referred to as frozen motion.

Stances are physically recognizable by a combination of:

Alignment of the feet

Position of feet

Weight Distribution

Posture is generally not a determining factor of stance.  The exceptions are where posture creates a variance in Weight Distribution and/or a repositioning of the feet.

Arm and hand positions (Guard) are generally not a determining factor of stance.

Stance alignments are typically a trade off between stability and mobility.
