Short Form Three has only two (2) techniques which are executed on the left side.


This information is of significance and should be analyzed further. The techniques are:

Twirling Wings

Short Form Three is composed of a large number of double maneuvers.


The double maneuvers of Short Form Three help to fill some unfinished categories started in this and previous forms.

Short Form Three extends the usage of opposite ends of a weapon.


Short Form Three expands upon the concept of opposite ends of a weapon to include the entire body, not just the extremities.

The techniques of Short Form Three rely heavily upon contact manipulation.


As a general rule, American Kenpo self-defense techniques create leverage over the potential opponent. Short Form Three accomplishes this same goal, relying heavily up the concept of contact manipulation. Contact manipulation is delved into in Short Form Three by demonstrating it in a number of different, yet related ways. This emphasis on contact manipulation can be principally attributed to the ranges between defender and potential opponent within the techniques of Short Form Three.
