Focal Points

Each American Kenpo form adds something to the overall system as a whole. This is done in such a way as to add to the knowledge base set down by previous forms. Therefore it is logical to conclude that each form has specific areas / maneuvers that can be considered highlights, themes, spotlights, focal points, etc. which help to fulfill this goal. Short Form Three is no exception.

These focal points in a form can be broken down into any number of groups, depending upon how one wishes to categorize them. For the purposes of this guide, the categories will be as follows:

1)Common - i.e., items that are generally known and taught

2)Less Common - i.e., items that are known and sometimes taught, but generally to advanced or experienced practitioners

3)Obscure - i.e., items that are often overlooked, forgotten, not taught, and/or obscure in nature

One thing to keep in mind with this type of breakdown of Short Form Three: it is not intended to be an all encompassing analysis of the form. But, rather to call out the focal points of the form. Instead, the "Analysis of Short Form Three" section of this guide is intended for the purpose of comprehensive analysis. In other words, this section can be construed more as a trivia like section, rather than an actual analysis section.
