The forms of American Kenpo can be categorized into three (3) major groups:
1.dictionary forms
2.encyclopedia forms
3.appendix forms
This conceptual analogy is used to try to make more obvious to the practitioner the intent of the forms contained within each of the individual categories. The encyclopedic forms (i.e., Short Form Three and up) have the major intent of outlining and expounding up specific theories, concepts, and ideas. In the case of Short Form Three, these concepts and maneuvers revolve around close range and dead-handed attacks.
