Pausing anywhere during the execution of Short Form Three is completely optional and not considered part of the idealized execution of the form. The idealized execution of Short Form Three flows from beginning to end without any significant pauses, but rather, there should only be very slight time gaps between each self-defense technique to distinguish them from one another. But, if a longer pause is desired for stylized execution purposes, typically the best location to place such a pause is between two of the self-defense techniques.
