Upward

a)proper alignments:
i)height = blocking arm extended to top of head
ii)width = blocking arm extended to opposite shoulder
iii)depth = arm angled forward at 45 degrees away from you
iv)fist positioned (palm facing directly forward)
v)ending with angle of deflection (from overhead attack)

b)improper execution:
i)not obeying the rule of Margin for Error:
1)executed like 'chicken wing' (strike), no torque, just arm lifting

c)improper execution (double factor):
i)not transitioned along center line - vertically
1)executed with arm remaining horizontal
2)executed with arm crossed center line

Form Specific

a)improper positioning:
i)hand not fully closed (positioned like middle-knuckle)

Comments

a)One of the most common execution errors of the Upward Block in Short Form Two is to execute the block with the hand not closed properly. This is typically caused due to the simultaneous formation of the middle-knuckle strike.
