Blocking (defense) is one of the major themes of Short Form Two. Executing the blocks properly can make the difference between a successful defense and failure. Just like the stances, the practitioner should become intimately familiar with the proper dimensions utilized in each of the blocks. The primary concepts in dealing with blocking dimensions are the Outer Rim theory and/or the Invisible Box theory. These theories along with the proper dimensions for each block are highlighted in detail in SGM Parker's book, "Infinite Insights into Kenpo, book #3 (Physical Analyzation II)."
Some of the most common mistakes displayed while executing Short Form Two are: not executing the blocks to the proper dimensions; not executing the blocks to the proper angles; not executing the double factor block properly; not executing the blocks efficiently (without Economy of Motion); and/or executing the block with improper timing.
