As demonstrated in Short / Long Form One with blocks (defense), the rear hand became the front hand during the execution of a foot maneuver. But, up to this point, this was never demonstrated for a strike (offense). Thus, the step-through foot maneuver at this point in the form demonstrates both the reverse direction (moving forward instead of reverse) of the blocking maneuvers in Short / Long Form one and the opposite (defense / offense) type of maneuver. Also, it sets a pattern for splitting the power principles in timing - as torque / back-up mass; which is then reversed in the next sequence of the form (extended outward block / half-knuckle).
