Why am I not supposed to shift into a forward bow on the second series of moves in Short Form Two?

Because one of the themes of Short Form Two is to isolate the Power Principles. And, each of the beginning moves of the form isolates a specific Power Principle. The first two block / strike maneuvers series of the form isolate the Power Principle of Torque, on the right and left side. The second two block / strike maneuvers series (the one's in question) isolate the Power Principle of Back-up Mass, on the right and left side. The third two block / strike maneuvers series isolate the Power Principle of Gravitational Marriage, on the right and left side. Therefore, if one were to shift into a forward bow during the second series of moves in Short Form Two, one would add the Power Principle of Torque, which is trying to be eliminated and / or minimized at this point in the form.
