The downward block / heel-palm sequence is as follows:
1) | rotate into a left neutral bow with a left downward block while simultaneously retracting the right arm into chamber |
2) | step through forward with the right foot into a right neutral bow with right thrusting heel-palm strike, while simultaneously retracting the left hand to a left cover position |
3) | draw the right foot toward the left into a right forty five degree cat stance while simultaneously retracting the right arm across the waist with the execution of a double-factor, left inside downward, palm up block |
4) | rotate into a right neutral bow with a right downward block while simultaneously retracting the left arm into chamber |
5) | step through forward with the left foot into a left neutral bow with left thrusting heel-palm strike, while simultaneously retracting the right hand to a right cover position |
An analysis of this sequence exposes the following information:
•the step through transitions the rear hand to the front hand
•the sequence reverses (left / right) the block sequence - in relation to Short / Long Form One (right / left)
•the sequence uses one-in-one timing - isolating the power principles with timing
•the sequence reverses the power principle order of the extended outward block / half-knuckle sequence
An analysis of this maneuver exposes the following information:
•the draw of the rear hand is to a realistic position (checking)
An analysis of this maneuver exposes the following information:
•the strike demonstrates the opposite (offensive) of the push-down block in Long Form One (defensive)
•the strike demonstrates the same point of contact on the opposite plane (horizontal) as the push-down block in Long Form One (vertical)
•the strike contains a large degree of torque3
An analysis of this maneuver exposes the following information:
•the intersection position of the cat (lower) is opposite of the intersection position of the blocks (upper)
•the double factor demonstrates a degree of cup and saucer with only the cocked arm in cup and saucer position
