First, to understand the difference between the terms dead, semi-live, and live, refer to the Major, Minor, and Applied section (Appendix F) later in this guide.
Since Long Form Three is a further examination into some of the same major themes presented in Short Form Three, it was felt that an advancement in terminology was also warranted. The terminology shift at this point in the guide series allows for the reader to contrast and compare how the different terms are used in an analysis scenario under very similar circumstances. It is hoped that applying the change in this way helps transition the reader from one form of terminology to another more seamlessly.
Furthermore, an explanation of the differing terminologies at this time in the series may also provide the reader not familiar with either terminology a better understanding and explanation of both, while also contrasting the two. And finally, through this method of progression, the reader will be left with a better understanding of how these terminologies are used and applied within the system.
