This variation is generally considered non-destructive.
When the proper alignment (back stance) is obtained in the transition from the right to left side of Scraping Hoof can vary. This variation is accomplished by changing the timing of when, or if, an adjustment foot maneuver is needed to obtain the proper alignment for the execution of the opposite side of the self-defense technique Scraping Hoof. This alignment can be obtained with the stomp (#3c) or can be made into a separate maneuver after the stomp (#4a). This variation basically comes down to an argument of efficiency of motion vs continuity of motion with Short Form Three.
Rationale for alignment with stomp
This variation has more economical timing than the extra foot maneuver and does not interfere with the execution of the opposite side of the technique. It effectively eliminates a motion from the form without negatively effecting the form's execution. The elimination of this maneuver helps shorten an already lengthy form without any consequences. Also, the additional adjustment is redundant because it is already executed in Short Form Three and does not need to be repeated here.
Rationale for alignment adjustment after stomp
This variation better isolates the adjustment and clearly highlights it to the practitioner. Also, adding the adjustment is more consistent with how the technique is executed in Short Form Three.
