This variation is considered historic.
The beginning section of the isolation was completely modified from its original execution. For historic preservation the written illustration of this isolation's original execution follows (for the right side only - the opposite execution is the same for the left side). Please note that the entire isolation is not written out, just the differing parts (#1 & #2), the remaining parts of the isolation (#3 - #6) remain the same.
Note: | This Isolation starts from the last position of the previous technique, without any transitions. |
Note: | The entire isolation is executed with the left arm in a chambered position at your left hip. |
1) | Rotate (clockwise V) your right open hand, palm up (toward 12:00V), and raise (toward 12:00V) your right hand to chin height in-line with the center of your body (center-line) (width). |
Note: | This maneuver uses your right elbow as the primary pivot point (right shoulder as the secondary pivot point). |
Note: | This maneuver simulates breaking out of a direct (left to right) wrist grab. |
Note: | The next series of hand maneuvers (#2 - #5) form a circle (#2 & #5) with a line cutting it in half horizontally (#3 & #4). |
2) | Rotate (counter clockwise V) your right open hand, palm down (toward 6:00V), reversing the path of the previous motion, then continuing that path directly downward (toward 6:00V) and arching backward (toward 4:30H / 4:30V) in-line with the center of your body (center-line) (width), concluding just in front of your solar plexus area (height). |
Note: | This maneuver uses your right shoulder as the primary pivot point (right elbow as the secondary pivot point). |
Note: | This maneuver simulates a frictional pull of the potential opponent's arm (from a broken grab). |
Rationale For
This is the original and historic execution of the form.
Rationale Against
A number of new and major pieces of information were added with the change to the isolation. The primary new information contain in the new maneuvers is: breaking out of both direct or cross grabs (instead of just a direct grab), and a preview of things to come with the new hand pattern (figure 8), Also, Mr. Parker purposely modified the form to include this new information.
