1) |
The horse stances of Long Form Three point to numerous directions. |
||
The horse stances of Long Form Three not only face to many of the eight (8) primary directions, but also have focus points to many of these directions. Facing is different from focus point, due to the fact that one's centerline may be pointing in one direction (for instance 12:00), but the point of focus may be to another direction (for instance 3:00, 6:00, or 9:00). The directions these horse stances face, but also have a focus point to are: |

2) |
Long Form Three demonstrates the concept of potential attacks from multiple directions. |
Isolation #3 introduces the concept of a potential attack by multiple opponents simultaneously and from different directions. In this case, from opposite sides (3:00 - 9:00). |
3) |
Long Form Three demonstrates maneuver lines which are not practical. |
||
In order to maintain the constraints of foot patterns and themes, Long Form Three it introduces the concept that a maneuver may be executed to an impractical angle: i.e. an angle that is not practical when applied to a potential attacker. The areas which demonstrate this concept are: |
|||
i) |
Isolation #1 (#6) |
back-knuckle striking angle incorrect to maintain circle / lines theme |
|
ii) |
Dominating Circles |
foot maneuver / execution angle improper to maintain foot pattern |
4) |
Long Form Three expands upon the concept of frictional pull. |
|
Long Form Three continues to express various ways in which the concept of frictional pull can be applied; from its original establishment in Short Form three (Fatal Cross). This expansion is demonstrated in the self-defense techniques: |
||
i) |
Isolation #1 (on top of weapon - single) |
|
ii) |
Glancing Spear (pushing - single) |
|
iii) |
Blinding Sacrifice (vertically - double) |
5) |
Long Form Three expands upon the concept of combining self-defense techniques together. |
|
Long Form Three continues to express various degrees in which self-defense techniques can be combined; from its original establishment in Short Form Three (Twirling Wings / Circling Wing). This expansion is demonstrated in the self-defense techniques: |
||
i) |
Destructive Twins / Isolation #1 - spliced (without transition) |
|
ii) |
Crashing Wings / Dominating Circles - spliced (with transition) |
|
iii) |
Repeated Devastation / Scraping Hoof - grafted together (in the middle of the technique) |
6) |
Long Form Three expands upon the concept of pivot points. |
|
Long Form Three continues to express various points on the body that may be used as primary pivot points; from its original establishment in Short Form Three (Fatal Cross). This expansion is demonstrated in the self-defense techniques: |
||
i) |
Parting Wings (pivot point on elbows) |
|
ii) |
Thrusting Wedge (pivot point on fingers) |
|
iii) |
Blinding Sacrifice (pivot point on multiple points - elbows / shoulders) |
7) |
Long Form Three expands upon the concept of double striking. |
|
Long Form Three continues to expand upon double maneuvers in various ways; from its original establishment in Short Form Two (section #3 and #4). This expansion is demonstrated in the sections: |
||
i) |
Isolation #2 |
|
ii) |
Isolation #3 |
|
iii) |
Thrusting Wedge |
|
iii) |
Blinding Sacrifice |
|
iv) |
Wings of Silk (left side) |
|
v) |
Repeated Devastation |
|
